Welcome to the GEneration Impact newsletter! We are excited to share with you the impact GE employees are making on the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development, and connect you to what’s going on in global development.

Purpose:

Generation Impact exists to encourage motivated leaders to contribute their passion and skills towards achieving the United Nation’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development

Mission:

Connect passionate individuals with social impact projects sourced through the GE network, individual initiatives, and established connections.

Amplify how employees are volunteering and growing their skills to positively impact Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

The GEneration Impact team stands with the Black Lives Matter movement as we know reducing inequalities (global goal #10) is imperative to making this world a better place. One resource we’d like to share for anyone taking the time to learn more about this movement is the book “How to be an AntiRacist” by Ibram X. Kendi. The book does an incredible job walking through anti-racist ideas and definitions that can help transform our perspectives into antiracist action.

Active Projects

Whole Forest

WholeForest farms sustainable portions of the Ecuadorian rainforest to produce quality furniture and building material. Their model resists deforestation and keeps carbon storied in a healthy forest.

Q2Q Health

This organization is developing a mobile app to give patients & caregivers real time, contextualized health information. The app also employs predictive analytics to identify ADE high risk patients.

Naloxbox

Naloxbox provides first aid units with naloxone and response tools so that anyone can use to initiate life-saving rescue maneuvers for victims of opioid overdose in advance of the arrival or emergency medical services.

Impressions – first weeks on a GEneration impact project with Naloxbox:

NaloxBox’s near-term goals are to further scale sales and distribution nationally and expand internationally. One of its most
immediate needs is an analysis of its supply chain operations to assure quality control, minimize production costs, and improve the
efficiency of production and inventory practices to meet demand.

“What surprised me the most at the beginning of the project was the Nalobox team’s willingness to change to improve the overall process.

We have created a value stream map of the Naloxbox supply chain with identified Kaizen opportunities to improve their supply chain processes. We shared with the team to educate them on how to use a value stream map and are executing on the top kaizen opportunity (Bill of Material cost out).” – Jonathan Holden

“I’m looking forward to addressing some of these Kaizen opportunities. There is a lot of areas to look, from redesigning the case itself to looking at how to make it user friendly for customers.” – Kaitlin Westphal

GEnerator Network Highlight

The work of our Impact ambassador Priya Achaibar on the People vs. Pandemics project was recognized by One Young Wold by highlighting her as the OYW ambassador of the month of June.

OYW is a UK-based not-for-profit organization that gathers young leaders from around the world to develop solutions to the globe’s most pressing issues.

People vs. Pandemics connects people within communities, matching people who need help with those that can offer it. Priya and the team behind seek to connect across communities to share community-driven responses to this pandemic.
